Languedoc / Midi

The Midi could be the California of France. Although it has a reputation for less then appetizing wine, producers are making great strides to change our minds. They are planting today’s primary varietals, Cabernet, Merlot and Chardonnay, with great success, creating affordable, delicious table wines. The crazy thing is that these easy selling varietal wines only have Vin de Pays d’Oc status while the Vin de Terroir in the old traditions) are having a difficult time making it in our new world of wine. This is the area of France to watch… several estates are making both the old style and new style of wines while the market here stabilizes, but you can be sure that we will see some big wines in the future from makers like Mas de Daumas Gassac. For now, be bold and experiment with wines from Languedoc.

The grapes for these Vin d’Pays wines were personally selected by Jean-Noel Formeaux of Chateau Potelle and hand crafted into wine by Marketta Formeaux. Try their Syrah, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cinsault Rose, and Merlot.
